Parents can make a huge impact in their families, their communities and their schools when they're armed with solid facts about the benefits of healthy lifestyles.

Healthy Eating: Calcium-Rich Foods

Consuming calcium-rich foods can ensure that your child will have good bone and tooth health.

  • Get 3 cups of low-fat or fat-free milk every day
    • Or an equivalent amount of low-fat yogurt and/or low-fat cheese (1½ ounces of cheese equals 1 cup of milk).
      • For kids aged 2 to 8, it's 2 cups of milk.
  • If you do not or cannot consume milk, choose lactose-free milk products and/or calcium-fortified foods and beverages.

Teach your children that good health depends on the right balance between what they eat and how much they move.
