Vegetables

Vegetables are a delicious and nutritious way to get many of the nutrients needed for good health. Vegetables are a great source of vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber. Vegetables can be purchased:

  • Fresh
  • Frozen
  • Canned
  • Dried
  • Juice

How much to get per day:

  • Try to eat 2 ½ to 3 cups of vegetables per day.
  • 1 cup of raw or cooked vegetables or vegetable juice, or 2 cups of raw leafy greens can be considered as 1 cup from the vegetable group.
  • 1/2 cup chopped vegetables is about the size of a light bulb.
  • Try to eat 5 to 9 servings per day
